In this video, I am sharing with you how I used couture sewing techniques to make placemats and table napkins as gifts for my friends and family. We begin by designing the placemats and making a pattern. We will make couture fabric ourselves and I will show you how easy it is and this will truly be one-of-a-kind. I will show you how to sew insets on the placemats. I used the same techique to make insets in the Givenchy day dress. I will show you how to attach applique to your garments.I will demonstrate how to turn corners with a point turner tool, one of the most useful tools I have in my studio. We will also cover narrow hem couture technique which you can apply in sewing silk dresses and blouses or with any other lightweight fabrics. I use narrow hem when I make Dior and Givenchy silk and handkerchief linen blouses.I think it is very useful to learn couture sewing by making something pretty and challenging yourself at the same time. I hope you will enjoy this tutorial and spend some time sewing with me.
