This is lightweight white handkerchief linen fabric. This is the lightest linen weighing just a little over 100 gsm. It is called handkerchief linen for a reason. It has the characteristic crimp and it is very light and soft.
Linen fabric is made from the flax plant and it has been produced in Ireland since the 12th century. You can imagine how much expertise the Irish linen manufacturers have. It is no wonder that linen is called the 'fabric of Ireland'.
You can use this white handkerchief linen fabric for the finest couture shirts and blouses, dresses, evening and resort wear. Note how transparent this fabric is. Consider using it to make a wedding or party dress for a summer outdoor event, use it as underlining or make a camisole. It folds, pleats and gathers beautifully.
Wash in cold water by hand. Hang to dry. Do not bleach, do not tumble dry. Iron with plenty of steam on the wrong side, a maximum temperature of 150⁰C. Use a pressing cloth to avoid glazing effect.
